Tottenham are trying their best to bolster the forward unit before the transfer deadline.
Tottenham Hotspur have found goals difficult to come by under Thomas Frank. The forwards have struggled to put the ball in the back of the net.
With eight goals, Richarlison is the club’s top scorer this season, but he is currently out injured. Randal Kolo Muani, on a season-long loan from PSG, is yet to score in the Premier League, while Dominic Solanke has just returned after being sidelined for months with an ankle surgery.
This has naturally resulted in Spurs wanting to add to their striker department in this winter transfer window. As per recent reports, the Lilywhites have shown an interest in Manchester United centre-forward Joshua Zirkzee. They have enquired about the possibility of signing the Dutchman.
Joshua Zirkzee has found opportunities hard to come by this season after falling behind summer signings Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in the pecking order. The Netherlands international has made 14 appearances in the Premier League this season, with 10 of them coming off the bench. He has registered two goals and an assist. Speculation has been swirling for weeks over his future, but Zirkzee seems to have finally put an end to it.

Joshua Zirkzee wants to stay at Manchester United for the rest of the season
According to an exclusive report from The Sun, Joshua Zirkzee has decided to stay at Manchester United for the rest of the season. Despite heavy interest from multiple clubs in Italy, and Tottenham in the Premier League, the 24-year-old has expressed his wish to stay at Old Trafford beyond Monday’s transfer deadline.
It was previously reported that Man United were prepared to block requests from senior players to leave the club in the winter transfer window. The £105,000-a-week star’s entourage were also told to forget a mid-season departure.
The centre-forward has missed the last two games through injury but has resumed training this week. He could be in the Red Devils’ squad to face Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Is it a blow for Tottenham?
Not really! The biggest reason for that is goals. Since joining United for £36.5 million after an impressive 2023-24 campaign for Bologna, when he scored 11 goals in 34 Serie A matches, the Dutch star has scored only nine times in 65 appearances. The numbers are pretty average for someone who was one of the best players in Serie A during his time with Bologna. Tottenham require a prolific goalscorer, and sadly, Zirkzee does not fall into that category.
While Spurs have been tentatively linked with him, the forward deciding to stay at United for the rest of the campaign should not bother the Hotspur Way bosses much.
