Manchester United are back in Premier League action today, but will also have an eye on the potential transfer business that could be completed. It has been a quiet month for United on the transfer front, with no new signings moving to Old Trafford as of the time of writing.

It remains to be seen if that will change before Monday’s deadline, with United running out of time to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, should they wish to do so.

Michael Carrick has enjoyed an impressive start as United’s interim head coach, winning his opening two matches in charge against Manchester City and Arsenal.

United will host Fulham at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday, and will be determined to get all three points in their final match before the transfer window closes.

Here, Mirror Sport takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and gossip that has generated headlines over the last 24 hours.

Club Brugge star ‘scouted’

United are reportedly expressing an interest in signing Club Brugge star Aleksandar Stankovic in the final days of the January transfer window.

It has been reported by journalist Matteo Moretto on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel that United have been sending scouts to watch Stankovic in action for Brugge, but will face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for the talented midfielder.

Inter Milan have also been credited with an interest in Stankovic, despite only leaving the Serie A giants last summer. It has been stated that Inter have the option to re-sign the 20-year-old in the summer.

Stankovic is reported to be valued at around £20million (€23million) this summer, but it remains to be seen if United’s apparent interest will go any further at this point.

United 'scout' Serie A defender

United have reportedly been keeping tabs on Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic during the January transfer window.

It has been reported by Bosnian media outlet SportSport that United have been sending scouts to watch Muharemovic in action and have been left impressed by what they have seen.

The report also claims that United also had officials in attendance to watch Muharemovic in action for Sassuolo in their Serie A clash against Pisa on Saturday afternoon.

Muharemovic, 22, played the full 90 minutes in the clash against Pisa as Sassuolo claimed a 3-1 victory to move up to ninth place in the Italian top flight.
