Newcastle United injuries: Eddie Howe confirmed two fresh injury concerns in his squad following the 4-1 defeat at Liverpool.
Guimaraes didn’t make the trip to Anfield despite being named on the bench in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. The Brazilian remains doubtful for the upcoming trip to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.
And two other players Newcastle will be monitoring the fitness of are Lewis Miley and Sven Botman, after the pair dropped out of the starting line-up for the Liverpool match.
Both Miley and Botman remained on the bench as unused substitutes at Anfield despite impressive displays at PSG in midweek.

Explaining why, Howe confirmed that both players have been struggling with knocks.
“We couldn’t use Lewy Miley and Sven Botman, so really in terms of team selection and formation, [the team selection] was sort of forced upon us to a degree, which is a disappointment,” Howe said. “That’s where I have to credit the players that we did use. They’ve gone again after playing in Paris on Wednesday, with all the travelling.

“We’re in a difficult spell because we can’t take too many players.
“Sven had a tight thigh and we were under the advice not to use him. The reason they were here and on the bench was because we were giving them every opportunity to declare themselves fit.
“And of course, in the warm-up they might have felt different. The recovery time is so small, you don’t always get the information that you need in the speed that you need it.
“With Lewy, yeah, he couldn’t bend his knee with sufficient angles to declare himself fit.”
Any players back for Man City?
Newcastle remain without Tino Livramento, Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth due to long-term injury issues while Jamaal Lascelles could leave the club before the trip to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday having not featured in a matchday squad since November.
When asked if any players could return for the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg, which Newcastle trail 2-0, Howe added: “I’d say probably the best chances we have would be Sven and Lewy, who were on the bench [v Liverpool].
“Bruno, I’m not 100% sure whether he’ll make it or not, there’s a chance. The others, no.”
