Alejandro Garnacho completely outclassed by£50m star Man Utd sold, hooked at half-time

Manchester United sold Alejandro Garnacho last summer after he disrespected the club, and since then, the decision has aged excellently.

Selling an academy graduate who had already been key for two seasons was always going to be a risk, and there was a concern that Manchester United would regret this call.

This is because on his day, Alejandro Garnacho can be top class; however, the biggest problem was that his day came few and far between, frustrating fans with consistent big chances missed and attitude issues.

United sold Garnacho for £40m to Chelsea, a fee which felt cheap at the time; however, he has looked worth half that amount for the Blues this season.

This weekend saw Garnacho handed a start, and it was another painful outing for the one-time Argentina international.

Will Man Utd ever REGRET selling Alejandro Garnacho?

Aaron Wan-Bissaka dominates Alejandro Garnacho

Chelsea took on West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, and it looked like a disaster for the hosts, finding themselves 2-0 behind at half-time.

Garnacho started for Chelsea and was among the worst players on the pitch in that first half, which led to Liam Rosenior taking drastic action.

Garnacho was hooked at half-time, emerging for the second half in a coat to join the bench.

It was justified with the 21-year-old failing to contribute much at all, losing possession 12 times in 36 touches and failing to connect with a single cross.

The main reason for Garnacho’s struggles was that he came up against Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is also a former £50m United player and a notoriously excellent one-on-one defender.

Garnacho couldn’t get anything going against his former teammate, and then for the second West Ham goal, he was nowhere to be seen as Wan-Bissaka ran completely free to set up the goal.

Another night to forget for Garnacho.

Manchester United robbed Chelsea in Garnacho deal

Any concerns about Garnacho going on to become something great have long since disappeared, with the once exciting winger regressing in ways and not developing in others since he was 17.

In his place, United signed Matheus Cunha, who has performed really well in 90 per cent of games this season, elevating United’s attack.

Even Patrick Dorgu’s attacking rise sees the Dane a much better winger already than Garnacho.

So the decision to take £40m for Garnacho is one that actually looks genius, as he is currently worth nowhere near that, and he continues to act less and less like a serious footballer.

Now, Chelsea are stuck with him until 2032.
