The duo have been missing for the entirety of January, with Worrall unavailable since the Bournemouth game just before Christmas, while Flemming’s last appearance came against Everton just before the turn of the New Year.

Both players have trained extensively in recent days, however, and are in line to play at the Stadium of Light if selected.

“Both players should be back and available after training,” manager Scott Parker confirmed.

“They've had a full 10 days now, or a week of training, so they're in a good place, so both Flem and Joe will be available which is good for us.”

The Clarets otherwise have no fresh injury concerns to contend with, meaning Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts, Josh Cullen, Mike Tresor and Zeki Amdouni all remain sidelined.

The 31-year-old has only made six appearances this term, with his last cameo coming way back in September.

When asked if Ward-Prowse is match fit to start if called upon, Parker said: “I need to probably sit down with him a little bit more.

“We've got his data for over the last few months in terms of his loading and what he's done. I mean, it'll be a tough one to go and push him straight into the Premier League after obviously not having a lot of football.

“In saying that, he’s an incredible professional whose every testing he's done with us since he's come in here has been right up there, so he's in a good place.

“But obviously, match speed and match tempo is probably something that might be missing.”
