Philippe Clement shares update on why Harry Amass wasn't involved for Norwich,‘In the dying seconds…’

Harry Amass signed for Norwich City on loan last week; however, he was absent from the squad on Saturday, which raised questions.

After an incredibly successful half-season, Harry Amass embarked on a new challenge over the past week down in Norfolk.

Amass had been top class for Sheffield Wednesday, managing to shine in a very poor team, winning two Player of the Month awards.

As a reward, United decided he was ready to play at a higher level, with Amass joining Norwich last week, a club on the up, where he would be playing a better brand of football.

However, there might already be a problem.

Harry Amass is already injured for Norwich City

Amass made his Norwich debut last week, making a cameo from the bench, and there was expectation of seeing him play this weekend against Middlesbrough.

However, when Norwich’s team for the 1-0 defeat to Boro was announced, there was one glaring absence, that being Amass.

Wearing the number two for Norwich, he was supposed to be a key addition in their quest for promotion. But now his season is in jeopardy.

After the game, Norwich boss Philippe Clement explained to the media Amass’ absence was injury-related.

“Harry, in the dying seconds of training, got an injury. I didn’t want to speak too much about it straight after training because there was no assessment yet about it.

“But it looks to be serious, and that he will be out for a long time. He’s on loan from Man Utd, so it’s also important to speak with them first before speaking to the outside world.”

Manchester United should have Harry Amass should return to Carrington

To hear Clement state that Amass’ injury is ‘serious’ could lead to conversations around cancelling the loan, given there are just four months left this season.

Amass would be better served recovering at Carrington, where the staff know him and he can rehabilitate with players he knows ahead of a possible comeback in pre-season.

If recalled, Amass won’t be able to play for United this season, considering the FIFA rules are that a player can only play competitive football for two clubs in a campaign, which Amass has done

This is a really unfortunate blow for Amass after such an impressive season, but he will be back better than ever. Hopefully, more clarity on his injury will be revealed soon.
