The midfielder is said to have attracted Nottingham Forest attention after time at Celtic.
A Celtic star is reportedly on the Nottingham Forest radar as the clock ticks down on the winter transfer window.
The Hoops board have had it in the neck for a lack of transfer activity this January and early February with striker Tomas Cvancara and right back Julian Araujo arriving on loan. While the focus for many will be on incomings, outgoings could also be on the agenda at the current Premiership champions heading into deadline day.
Arne Engels has had a mixed time of it since moving to Celtic in a bumper £11m deal in 2024 from German Bundesliga side Augsburg. While the technical talent he possesses is clearly there, some have wanted more from the Belgian, amid a difficult season so far at Parkhead. Now Sky Germany claim he may have done enough regardless to get a path to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest claimed to be keen on a deal.

What Celtic player do Nottingham Forest want to sign this transfer window?
Reporter Florian Plettenberg stated on X: “Forest are exploring a deal to sign Arne Engels ahead of Deadline Day. As revealed, a winter departure for Engels is possible under the right conditions. The 22 y/o top midfielder is under contract with Celtic FC until 2028.”
Meanwhile, Kieran Tierney says he is hoping for a couple more additions to the Celtic squad come the close of play on Monday night. The defender returned to his boyhood club he left for the Gunners in a £25m deal last summer on a free transfer and has slowly started to recapture the type of form that earned his big break in England. Up next is Falkirk in the league and with the team third in the table, fourth-placed Motherwell just a couple points off them after a win at Livingston, Tierney knows how important the next stretch of games could be.
Tierney said: “The goal for every single club in a transfer window is to strengthen their squad. That especially holds for us going into the second half of the season with so much to play for.
Kieran Tierney on Celtic title race
“We have already brought a couple of boys in, and they have been great so far. Hopefully we can get a couple more and then we can kick on again. Because of all the challenges we have faced this year, with everything that has gone on it has been a testing time for everyone at the club.
“To come out on top this year would be amazing. When we played Falkirk a couple of weeks ago, I thought they were a great team and then I watched them against Hearts in the cup and they played brilliant football. So it won’t be an easy game.
“We took our chances when we beat them at home but the away game was a lot tougher. I thought we took a lot out of that one in terms of how we dug in and defended as a unit. Getting a clean sheet is always pleasing.”
