Just in: David Ornstein says Champions League club make contact to sign 'incredible' Everton…

Everton rejected an enquiry from Juventus for striker Beto last week, journalist David Ornstein has revealed.

The Toffees are reportedly reluctant to lose the 'incredible' 28-year-old forward before the transfer window closes and would demand a significant fee to consider a sale.

Juventus are said to have explored a loan deal for Beto, who scored a stoppage-time equaliser for Everton in Saturday’s draw at Brighton, netting his fourth goal of the season.

Everton have also held internal talks over Juventus winger Edon Zhegrova, but conversations did not develop.

Beto celebrates putting Everton 1-0 up in the Merseyside Derby

According to Ornstein, Everton have no plans to let Beto leave before Monday’s deadline, as he is the only recognised senior striker in David Moyes’ squad alongside Thierno Barry.

Juventus are on the lookout for a new striker ahead of the transfer deadline and have previously explored the availability of Crystal Palace star Jean-Philippe Mateta and Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Jorgen Strand Larsen.

A move for Beto appears highly unlikely, as Everton would need to sign a replacement with little time left in the market.

The Toffees are believed to be pursuing a loan move for Chelsea winger Tyrique George and are seeking to include an option to make the deal permanent after the season.

George has been on the fringes of the Chelsea squad this season, making just four Premier League appearances and another four in the Champions League.
