Beto issues statement to Everton fans after last-minute equaliser vs Brighton

Everton drew 1-1 with Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon, continuing their impressive record on the road.

David Moyes’ side have one of the best away records in the league, as they reside fifth in the away Premier League table.

Everton weren’t really at the races though, as there were a number of sub-par performances across the pitch.

Beto grabbed all the headlines, of course, as he reacted quickly to turn home a rebound in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

After the game, the Everton striker issued a statement to supporters.

Beto has a message for Everton fans after the Brighton draw

It’s not been a great season for Beto, as he’s been on the sidelines for much of it after losing his starting spot to Thierno Barry.

That said, he was quick to thank fans for their support on Everton’s Instagram.

“I just want to say that I’m really happy to help the team make one point here and up the Toffees!

“Thank you for the support, I love you guys.”

Beto only took 10 minutes to do what Barry couldn’t in almost 90 minutes! 🤩

James Tarkowski heaped praise on Beto’s character in his post-match interview, explaining that he’s one of the hardest-working players at Finch Farm.

“He’s one of the hardest workers in the team. Never gives up. Always open to criticism and how to improve, how to get better. He is continuously trying to improve his game.”

Beto’s celebration indicates he will stay at Everton

Beto has been linked with a move away for most of the January transfer window, with clubs in Italy credited with interest.

However, his celebration yesterday very much looked like a player who wants to stay, as he pointed to the Everton badge.

The window shuts on Monday evening, so there isn’t enough time to find an adequate replacement anyway.

The Friedkin Group should retain his signature this winter and look to cash in on him in the summer window – when he has 12 months left on his contract.
