The confirmed team news for Aston Villa vs Brentford in the Premier League.
Kick-off is fast approaching for this afternoon’s Premier League clash between Aston Villa and Brentford.
Both teams have arrived at Villa Park and the two managers have confirmed their starting lineups and substitutes for the game. Unai Emery, who rotated heavily for Villa’s 3-2 win over RB Salzburg in the Europa League, has reverted to a stronger team today. Keith Andrews, meanwhile, has made some subtle changes from Brentford’s 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Villa, eager to build momentum after their wins over Salzburg and Newcastle United, can move into the Premier League top two with a victory today. Brentford, on the other hand, can leapfrog Everton and Fulham to go into seventh, moving themselves firmly into European contention.
Aston Villa vs Brentford lineups
The Villa Park faithful will be excited to read that Tammy Abraham and Douglas Luiz are both in the starting lineup today, ready to make their second debuts for the club. Jadon Sancho is preferred to Leon Bailey on the right wing, while Amadou Onana is benched in favour of Lamare Bogarde.
Ollie Watkins is not fit in time to face his former club. The ex-Bees striker suffered a hamstring injury on Thursday, and, although Emery doesn’t think it’s serious, it was clearly enough for Watkins not to be risked.
Villa XI: Martinez (GK); Cash, Konsa, Pau, Maatsen; Bogarde, Luiz; Sancho, Buendia, Rogers; Abraham.
