Harry Amass, just a week after joining Norwich City, is facing the prospect of a lengthy stint on the sidelines through injury.
Former Sheffield Wednesday loanee Harry Amass is facing a lengthy stint on the sidelines after suffering an unspecified injury in training ahead of Norwich City’s trip to Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Amass, 18, joined Norwich on loan for the remainder of the season from Manchester United just over a week ago, after impressing at Hillsborough during the first half of the campaign.
The teenager’s loan spell at Hillsborough reached its conclusion following Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat to QPR at Loftus Road on January 4, and the Owls made no secret of their desire to try and bring him back for the rest of the campaign.
However, they were unable to reach an agreement with United, meaning the youngster joined Norwich for the second half of the campaign, offering him the opportunity, with respect to Wednesday, to play in a more competitive team.
After making his Canaries debut via the bench in their 2-1 win over Coventry City at Carrow Road last Monday night, Amass would have been pushing for a start against Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Saturday. However, he was absent from the matchday squad after suffering an injury Canaries boss Philippe Clement has described as “serious”.
Clement fears Amass faces lengthy absence
Clement told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Harry, in the dying seconds of training, got an injury. I didn't want to speak too much about it straight after training because there was no assessment yet about it.
"But it looks to be serious and that he will be out for a long time. He's on loan from Man United so it's also important to speak with them first before speaking to the outside world."
Norwich, who were beaten 1-0 by Boro, are not planning to try and sign a replacement left-back.
Clement added: "No, we're not going to take in another left full-back, so we will solve it with the squad that's here because we already have four left full-backs on the pay roll.”
Amass, who will turn 19 next month, made 21 appearances during his time with Wednesday, scoring one goal and registering one assist.
