Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has named his starting XI to take on Brentford in the Premier League.

He has made seven changes from the side that beat RB Salzburg on Thursday night, when Villa came from two goals down to defeat the Austrian outfit in the Europa League.

Tammy Abraham and Douglas Luiz both make their second debuts for the club, while Ollie Watkins is injured.

Emi Martínez starts in goal behind a back four of Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres and Ian Maatsen.

Lamare Bogarde and Luiz line up in the double pivot, while Jadon Sancho, Morgan Rogers and Emi Buendia support striker Abraham.

Villa have never lost any of their 10 previous home league meetings with Brentford - the most they have faced an opponent at Villa Park without suffering defeat.

Although they are targeting a fourth successive win in all competitions this afternoon, Villa were beaten 1–0 by Everton in their last league outing at Villa Park. They have not lost consecutive home league matches since February 2024.

Brentford, meanwhile, won the reverse fixture 1–0 back in August, but have never beaten Villa in consecutive league meetings.

The Bees have lost their last two Premier League games, both by a 2–0 scoreline against Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.

They last suffered three consecutive league defeats without scoring in March 2012, when they were playing in League One.

Villa starting XI: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Maatsen; Bogarde, Luiz; Sancho, Rogers, Buendia; Abraham.

Subs: Bizot, Mings, Lindelof, Digne, Barkley, Hemmings, Onana, Bailey, Elliott.

Brentford starting XI: Kelleher; Kayode, Van den Berg, Ajer, Henry; Henderson, Janelt, Jensen; Ouattara, Thiago, Schade.

Subs: Valdimarsson, Hickey, Pinnock, Yarmolyuk, Collins, Lewis-Potter, Dsmagaard, Donovan, Bentt.
