Wolverhampton Wanderers have now made a late approach to sign a striker who Rob Edwards described as "brilliant" earlier this season.
Wolves eyeing another signing after Gomes
With Wolves sitting bottom of the Premier League table, 17 points from safety, relegation is looking almost inevitable, but they remain keen on strengthening their squad before the February 2nd transfer deadline, and they have managed to attract Marseille midfielder Angel Gomes.
In terms of potential outgoings, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding Jorgen Strand Larsen's future, and Crystal Palace have submitted a club-record bid worth a total of £48.5m for the Norwegian striker.
In truth, the 25-year-old has been poor this season, scoring just one goal in the Premier League, but if he does depart, the Old Gold will need to bring in a replacement, and they have now made their first move for a Championship striker.
That is according to a report from the Express & Star (via Birmingham World), which states Wolves have now submitted an enquiry over a deal for Southampton striker Adam Armstrong, as they look to bring in a new centre-forward before the deadline.

Edwards & co are yet to decide who their priority striker target is, but Armstrong is one of the options under consideration, although a move could be controversial, given that he is a former West Bromwich Albion player.
It is unclear whether the Old Gold are looking to sign the striker permanently or on loan, but there are clear signs he could help fire them to promotion from the Championship next season.
Armstrong could be "brilliant" signing for Wolves
The Saints have underperformed in the Championship this season, currently sitting in 14th place, but the Englishman has been impressive in front of goal, picking up 11 goals and four assists in 29 outings.

This Wolves target would add plenty of experience to their side
After scoring in a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough earlier this season, the 28-year-old was lauded by Edwards, who said: "I thought Armstrong was brilliant today. He’s a really good footballer and they’ve got threats everywhere."
The centre-forward's record in the second tier is very encouraging, registering 91 goals and 37 assists in 277 Championship outings, particularly impressing in his last three full Championship campaigns, across spells with Blackburn Rovers and the Saints.

Armstrong has been unable to make the step-up to Premier League level, netting just six goals in 88 top tier games, but he clearly has the talent to lead the line for Wolves in the Championship, with Edwards' side almost certain to be relegated.
