West Ham implosion comes with massive blow to key player as Leeds United watch on

Leeds United’s defeat to Arsenal on Saturday could have been capitalised on by West Ham. But, the Irons capitulated away at Chelsea to keep the gap at six points.

A draw could have been three points on Monday for Leeds. However, a six-point gap to the bottom three was still a positive position to be in ahead of this weekend.

That said, nerves of being dragged closer to the relegation zone heightened when Leeds fans left Elland Road to see West Ham race into a deserved 2-0 lead at Stamford Bridge.

West Ham collapse away at Chelsea to lose 3-2 in stoppage time

When I watched Crysencio Summerville wrap in a stunning second for the Irons, I got that sense of impending doom that Nuno Espirito Santo had finally clicked into gear.

Thankfully, his questionable game management reared its ugly head once more.

Chelsea changed setup in the second half and West Ham faltered, losing their strong grip on the grip game and conceding twice by the 70th minute to be brought back to level terms.

Espirito Santo had already sacrificed striker Pablo in favour of centre-back Max Kilman to soak up pressure, and it did not pay off.

Chelsea continued to knock on the door and got a dramatic winner in stoppage time as Enzo Fernandez rolled in a cut-back to break West Ham hearts. Get in.

West Ham suffer massive Jean-Clair Todibo blow with three-match ban confirmed

Leeds fans watching on will have already been delighted to see another loss on the board for West Ham. They stay six adrift of the Whites as a result of their loss at Stamford Bridge.

However, the headloss was there to see late on as Joao Pedro and Adama Traore came to blows near the corner, sparking a mass scuffle between both sets of players.

Jean-Clair Todibo receives a red card.

As Pedro got pulled away by Irons centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, the Frenchman grabbed Chelsea’s forward by the throat. Anthony Taylor was prompted to visit the pitchside VAR monitor. In turn, he deemed Todibo’s actions to be violent conduct, seeing him sent off.

Violent conduct carries a three-match ban, meaning Todibo misses two Premier League games: Burnley (away) and Manchester United (home).
