West Ham United Women return to Barclays Women’s Super League action this weekend as they host London rivals Tottenham Hotspur Women in a highly anticipated derby clash.

The fixture takes place on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 11:55am, at the Chigwell Construction Stadium in Dagenham, as the Hammers look to build momentum in front of their home supporters.

Rita Guarino’s side head into the weekend aiming to continue their recent improvement in performances and results. West Ham have shown greater solidity and intensity in recent outings, with a growing confidence in possession and sharper work off the ball.

Against a Spurs side who like to play at pace, the Hammers will need to be disciplined defensively while making the most of transitions and set-piece opportunities.

Supporters can expect a fast-paced and physical contest, with derby pride very much on the line. Tottenham arrive with attacking threats across the pitch, but West Ham will be confident that their recent defensive organisation and work rate can limit Spurs’ chances.

Midfield battles are likely to be key, with both sides looking to control tempo and exploit space out wide.

West Ham are expected to line up with Kinga Szemik in goal, supported by a back line that could include Endo, Nyström, Hanshaw and Siren.

In midfield, Katrina Gorry is likely to anchor the side alongside Oona Siren, while attacking options such as Riko Ueki, Viviane Asseyi and Martinez Piubel could be tasked with providing creativity and goal threat.

Tottenham, meanwhile, may start with Lize Kop in goal, a settled defensive unit, and experienced forwards including Bethany England and Martha Thomas, who will look to stretch the Hammers’ back line.

With local bragging rights at stake and valuable league points on offer, all the ingredients are in place for an entertaining and hard-fought London derby in east London this weekend.
