The latest transfer talk from Deepdale as Preston North End prepare for transfer deadline day.
Football League World have claimed North End are one of three EFL clubs considering a move for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Andrew Moran ahead of Monday’s 7pm deadline. The three-times capped Republic of Ireland international has experienced a number of loan spells away from the Amex Stadium since joining the Seagulls from Bray Wanderers during the summer of 2020 and spent time in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City in recent seasons.
Moran joined MLS outfit LAFC on loan during the summer and scored one goal and provided one assist in 10 appearances in all competitions before returning to Brighton earlier this month. Football League World have now claimed Preston are considering Moran as a possible alternative signing to Harrison Armstrong as they await a decision from Everton on whether the young midfielder will be allowed to return for a second temporary stint at Deepdale.
However, West Bromwich Albion are said to be keen on a move for Moran and League One promotion contenders Huddersfield Town are ‘eyeing up a move’ for the midfielder as they look to join North End in the second tier. The report concludes Brighton are ‘unlikely’ to sanction a permanent move for Moran but would but open to a loan switch before Monday’s 7pm deadline.
What has Paul Heckingbottom said about Preston North End’s January transfer window business?

“Yeah, yeah, listen, the window is hard,” Heckingbottom told the LEP when asked if he felt he had been backed. “Like I’ve said, you want it done on the first of January, 100 per cent, but we know how difficult it is. The dead simple thing for us, and I say it to Peter, to James, to staff... I'm used to it where, just be relaxed what everyone else is doing. Our market might be different, but we need to be the best in our market. But then if we are identifying players, one, that we could afford, and then two, within our structure that I think will help the squad, we can't be messing about with it. We've got to go and get them... got to go and get them.
“Otherwise, you don't do that and then we're working outside our parameters again, looking at players who aren't going to get in the XI, or players who are out of our budget. So yeah, that aspect is dead, dead simple. If you work without panic and are really clear and aggressive, attacking things, you can get things done.”
