Noni Madueke has been credited with Arsenal’s second goal against Leeds yesterday, in the 4-0 win at Elland Road.
The winger got an assist for Martin Zubimendi’s opener, but when Karl Darlow punched the ball into his own net – despite the corner looking like it was ‘on target’ – the goal was initially given as an own goal against the Leeds keeper.
However, the Premier League’s Goal Accreditation Panel has now confirmed the goal has been given to Madueke, making it his first league goal for the club.
That makes it 4 in total since his summer move from Chelsea, with the other three coming in the Champions League – one against Bayern Munich, and a brace against Club Brugge.
It might be about 24 hours too late, but congrats to Noni, whose teammates all knew it was his goal anyway given how they celebrated.
