Wolves have accepted a £48million offer to sell Norwegian striker Strand Larsen to Crystal Palace, leaving them with a hole to fill at the top of the pitch in the second half of the season.

According to Ornstein, Wolves have submitted an initial offer of £7million for the 28-year-old, with an additional £2million in add-ons, that are described as being achievable, with the Saints expected to accept that offer ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.

Armstrong was left out of Southampton's squad that beat Stoke City on Saturday afternoon, amid growing speculation around his future at St Mary's.

Once the official offer is accepted, Armstrong will undergo a medical, with personal terms to be agreed over the transfer to the Midlands.

He is not likely to be the only signing coming through the door at Molineux on transfer deadline day, with Wolves also working on a deal to sign Angel Gomes.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday morning that a deal had been agreed between Wolves and Marseille over a loan deal until the end of the season for the England midfielder. There is also an option for the deal to be made permanent at the end of the season for a fee of around €7million.

Wolves are already planning for next season, with Rob Edwards' side 18 points adrift of safety at the bottom of the Premier League table. They had enjoyed something of a resurgence in recent weeks until back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Bournemouth set them back once more.
