Millwall have signed Brighton and England U21 striker Tommy Watson on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old was originally a product of the Sunderland academy making 24 appearances for the Black Cats.

Watson scored the last minute winner against Sheffield United in the Championship play off final at Wembley last May which took Sunderland to the top flight.

A move to Brighton for a fee of £10million followed last summer and he has made six appearances in the Premier League for the Seagulls this campaign.

Millwall's director of football Steve Gallen told the club website the Lions had fought off attentions of a number of clubs to land the young striker.

"There were a lot of clubs in for him, but he decided to join us," said Gallen. "He's a good young player is who bright, versatile and full of energy, plus he is an England Under-21 international this season."
