League One strugglers Port Vale have signed Everton defender Elijah Campbell on loan until the end of the current campaign.

The 21-year-old captained Everton's U18s and made 12 appearances for the U21 side before loan spells at Fleetwood and Ross County.

Vale's first team manager Jon Brady told the club website the versatile defender brings experience and provides another option at the back for the club.

"He's only 21 but already has some good experience under his belt, including at this level," Brady added. "He'll give us another defensive option going into a busy period of important games."

The Valiants are 10 points adrift at the bottom of League One and face AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday at Vale Park.
