Everton had been looking for a new right-back and a new striker.

But those positions have somewhat taken a backseat following the injury to Jack Grealish.

A couple of days ago, it was reported that Everton were targeting Tyrique George from Chelsea knowing the injury to Grealish is serious.

Everton have been in advanced talks for George over the weekend – and now there has been an update on the situation.

Interestingly, there is reference to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as a potentially significant factor in Everton signing George.

Dewsbury-Hall, of course, came from Chelsea and knows George’s qualities, and it may well be that he can help to convince the youngster to come.

George move would be welcome after Ethan Nwaneri failure

Everton are still facing competition from Sunderland for George, but the Toffees are ahead in the race right now and hopefully the deal gets done.

And it would be an exciting move.

At the moment, Everton are crying out for a bit of pace and effervescence out wide, and George is a player who’s all about pace and dribbling.

Earlier in the window Everton were linked with Ethan Nwaneri but sadly nothing materialised with that, and the Arsenal man has now gone to Marseille on loan.

While it was a shame to miss out, Everton can definitely still land a very promising English youngster in the form of George.
