Man United secured a 3-2 win over Fulham to continue their winning run under Michael Carrick

The boss was made to sweat during the final minutes of a nail-biting clash at Old Trafford. The Red Devils saw their 2-0 lead disappear after a Raul Jimenez and Kevin wonder-strike levelled the score in the space of six minutes.

Kevin found the equaliser in the first minute of stoppage time but substitute Benjamin Sesko was on hand to play hero for United. The Slovenia international whipped in a superb effort to send Fulham home empty-handed and continue the Red Devils’ impressive form under Carrick.

Michael Carrick ‘delighted’ with Benjamin Sesko heroics

Speaking to the media after the match, Carrick described Sesko’s winner as a ‘huge moment’ for both the player and the team. The 22-year-old was greeted with a huge reception once he entered the dressing room.

“I’m so, so pleased. Everyone in the changing room, players, staff, delighted for him, absolutely delighted for him,” Carrick told reporters. “And the reception he got when he came back in the changing room, told us everything.

“He’s even confident, to be honest. We’ve worked with him a lot in different ways over the last couple of weeks. He’s bright in training. He’s looked dangerous, he’s done extra. The coaches have done a lot of bits on the side and Travis, particularly, he’s done a lot of work one on one with him.”

Benjamin Sesko adds to tally with Fulham goal

Sesko’s strike marked his fifth Premier League goal in his maiden season for United.

After a dip in form and an injury absence, the Slovenian went nine games without a goal. He broke his duck earlier this month to put United 2-1 up against relegation candidates Burnley but an equaliser from Jaidon Anthony unravelled his efforts to get his side the win.

Carrick values Sesko highly and was full of praise for the striker during his post-match press conference.

“Ben’s a big talent, he’s got so many positive things. And today’s a huge goal because that feeling as a striker here to score a winner in front of the Stretford End, like that, it’s what you dream of, really.

“After missing a chance, which is what it is for strikers, to miss chances, to go again and put that away. Absolutely so, so pleased for him. He really deserved it.”
