Throughout the second half, most notably in the 57th minute, Old Trafford erupted into renditions of the Michael Carrick chant, which was the loudest the stadium got during the 101-minute-long match.
The chants returned during the 60th and 75th with more loud messages approving Carrick as head coach.
“It’s Carrick, you know. Hard to believe it’s not Scholes”, the fans sang, clearly answering the question of who they think should take permanent charge.
This is a pretty unanimous show of support by the fans in the stadium, and they are completely correct.

Michael Carrick should be named permanent Manchester United manager
Three games into the reign of Carrick as interim, and he has answered every question asked of him to date, winning all three and in exciting fashion.
Carrick’s qualities perfectly suit the club, and we have already seen enough to suggest he should get it permanently.
He might not be the most experienced of options, but appointing anyone else would be a massive risk given the support Carrick clearly has in the stands and on the pitch.
No other manager could come and get the club as quickly.
This could, of course, all change, but right now Carrick has to be the frontrunner.
