Journalist finally delivers good news ahead of West Ham’s deadline day decision

West Ham United’s scatter-gun approach to this transfer window has yielded two strikers who don’t score – but run their socks off – a winger who doesn’t seem to offer much at all and a youngster seemingly heading for the development squad.

Fans don’t need reminding after the Stamdford Bridge debacle that the worst defense in the Premier League hasn’t been improved.

It will get worse: Once the ‘powers that be’ inevitably hand down an extended ban for Jean Clair Todibo after his attempt to throttle Joao Pedro, West Ham will be down to just two centre backs, probably for the next four or five games.

However there is ‘good news’ – of sorts- on the way as the ‘reluctant recruit’ who was being linked with West Ham and AC Milan now has a clear choice: West Ham or nothing.

Italian journalist Matteo Moratti confirmed as much on his twitter / x account this afternoon:

“AC Milan has no intention of moving forward with negotiations for Axel Disasi. The Chelsea defender has been offered and evaluated by [Milan] but the club intends to put their full trust in Koni de Winter”.

Disasi had apparently been treading water on a West Ham decision whilst hoping to agree a deal with Milan.

Bearing in mind that the defender chose to stay at Chelsea last summer without first team football – and has been part of the Blues’ “bomb squad” ever since – rather than don a Claret and Blue shirt, there’s no guarantee that Disasi will take a different decision in the next 24 hours and actually choose to join relegation-threatened West Ham.

Can’t say I blame him, after yesterday’s capitulation.

Which leaves the Hammers in a bit of bother.
