So, the Toffees have just announced that they have decided to send the 21-year-old on a six-month loan to League One.

Everton’s statement read: “Defender Eli Campbell will spend the remainder of the 2025/26 season on loan with Port Vale. Go well, Eli!”

Port Vale are actually sitting rock bottom, 10 points adrift of safety, so it’s certainly not the most ideal loan for the youngster.

Port Vale manager delighted with the signing

Speaking to Port Vale’s website, manager Jon Brady explained how pleased he is to bring Campbell to the League One outfit.

“We’re really pleased to have Elijah on board,” Brady stated.

“He’s only 21 but already has some good experience under his belt, including at this level, and he’ll give us another defensive option going into a busy period of important games.

“Our thanks to Everton for trusting us with continuing his development here at Vale Park. We would like to extend a warm welcome to Eli and his family.”

When Campbell returns to Everton in the summer, he will only have one year remaining on his contract, so the Toffees will more than likely be keen to cash in for a permanent fee.
