Benjamin Sesko came to Manchester United’s rescue at Old Trafford, scoring an injury-time winner from the bench to beat Fulham 3-2.
The Red Devils were in control for much of the match after goals from Brazilian duo Casemiro and Matheus Cunha, but Fulham scored twice late on to make a nervy ending.

Marco Silva’s side also ended the match with more possession after a strong midfield performance, and Sander Berge was at the heart of it.
United showed interest in Sander Berge back in 2024 but ultimately decided to walk away from a deal for the 27-year-old. His performance on Sunday suggests that might have been a mistake.

In the upcoming summer transfer window, United’s top priority is overhauling the central midfield department, with one or two high-profile signings expected.
In 2024, United chose to sign Manuel Ugarte over Berge, but the Uruguayan has never truly settled in the side and he is now being linked with an exit.

At Old Trafford, Berge was easily one of Fulham’s best players. As per SofaScore, he won 100% of his tackles, 100% of his ground duels and made five defensive contributions.
He also boasted a 93% passing accuracy and completed 30 carries in possession.
Sander Berge was ‘excited’ by Man United talks
United’s interest in Berge was advanced, and he very nearly found himself wearing red at Old Trafford before he made his switch to Fulham.
According to reports, Berge was “excited” about joining United and the prospect of playing for the Red Devils, but his dream move never happened.

United under Ineos have now moved on to other targets, with younger options such as Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton at the top of the shopping list for the summer.
It seems Berge’s chances of playing at Old Trafford have sailed, but the Norwegian proved on Sunday that he would likely be a better option than Ugarte in Carrick’s current squad.
