Crystal Palace are set to complete a late deal as they have agreed to break their club transfer record for a second time this month

It feels like an age since Crystal Palace made an early move for Brennan Johnson in the January window as they swiftly completed a £35m deal for the Wales international.

The 24-year-old forward arrived from London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in what was a club-record deal. Since then, Marc Guehi has left the club to join Manchester City while manager Oliver Glasner has announced he will leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

There is poised to be some late outgoing and incoming business at Palace, with the club now breaking their transfer record for a second time this winter.

Providing an update on X, he said: “Crystal Palace agree deal to sign Jørgen Strand Larsen from Wolves, here we go! Transfer fee will be £45m plus £5m add-ons. Story revealed this morning on bid improved now confirmed, all agreed club to club. Jorge Mendes negotiated the deal, now agreed in principle.”

He later added: “Jørgen Strand Larsen, on his way to medical as new Crystal Palace player.”

The striker had been the subject of interest from Leeds United, who made a bid of £33m with £6m in add-ons earlier in the month. Wolves were holding out for at least £40m but the Whites were unwilling to match that asking price.

Larsen’s move will hinge on whether Jean-Philippe Mateta will complete his proposed move to AC Milan before the deadline. The Eagles have already announced a loan deal for Aston Villa man Evann Guessand, with that agreement containing a £28m option to buy.

The option to buy will become an obligation if an appearance-related add-on is triggered. Palace have until 7pm to finalise a deal for Larsen which would then make him available for the remainder of the campaign.
