Scorpion kick stunner turns EPL title race, Man United win again thanks to 94th-minute goal

There’s been a stunning scorpion kick goal in the English Premier League and it’s one that could play a significant role in deciding who wins the title this season.

Dominic Solanke, who was signed by Ange Postecoglou during his time in charge at Tottenham Hotspur, scored for Spurs with an instinctive flick that looped over Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and earned Spurs a precious point via a 2-2 draw.

That result seemed highly unlikely when City took a 2-0 lead into half-time thanks to goals from Rayan Cherki and January signing Antoine Semenyo.

Despite the pressure that scoreline heaped onto under-fire Tottenham boss Thomas Frank, the home team came out a different side in the second half, pegging a goal back early in the second-half after Solanke just managed to dink the ball over Donnarumma, before his far more spectacular second goal in the 73rd minute.

The 2-2 draw eases the pressure on Frank and means Spurs are now nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Perhaps more significantly, City now trail ladder-leaders Arsenal by six points after the Gunners’ thumping win on Sunday morning (AEDT), with Aston Villa a further point back after they suffered a surprise loss to Brentford.

Meanwhile Manchester United reclaimed fourth spot after winning a thriller against Fulham 3-2.

The Red Devils look to be cruising towards victory as they held a 2-0 a lead with five minutes of regulation time remaining, thanks to goals from Brazilian pair Casemeiro and Matheus Cunha.

But a frantic finish saw Raul Jimenez peg a goal back from the penalty spot in the 85th minute, before another Brazilian, Kevin, scored the equaliser for Fulham in the first minute of stoppage time.

There was one final twist to come, however, with Benjamin Sesko emerging as the hero for United after scoring the winner in the 94th minute.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Crystal Palace earned a point away to Nottingham Forest with a 1-1 draw.

The key moment in the match came on the stroke of half-time, when Forest’s Neco Williams was shown a straight red card after handballing a header from Palace’s Jefferson Lerma that was destined for the back of the net.

Ismailia Sarr scored the subsequent penalty, levelling the scores after Morgan Gibbs-White had given Forest an early lead, but it remained 1-1 to leave Nottingham Forest six points clear of the relegation zone, with Palace a further three points ahead.
