‘What a goal’… Marco Silva praises one Manchester United strike that left him absolutely stunned

Manchester United’s players showed spirit to overcome a setback and beat Fulham at Old Trafford.

For the second game in a row, Manchester United bounced back instantly from conceding an equaliser, to go on and win 3-2.

This time the Red Devils did it at Old Trafford, and left it even later. Benjamin Sesko’s stoppage time strike at the Stretford End sent fans wild and continued Michael Carrick’s winning streak.

For visitors Fulham it was a heartbreaking result after they had battled back from 2-0 down to make it 2-2 with two late goals.

Marco Silva picks out United’s best strike

Marco Silva’s side put up a good fight and showed why they are a top 10 Premier League team.

The Portuguese manager was frustrated by some of the refereeing decisions, but he had to hold his hands up and commend the quality of Matheus Cunha’s goal.

He told his press conference: “We switched off in one moment, and what a goal from Matheus,” before praising the way Fulham reacted.

Silva went on to add how he was proud of his side and appreciated the quality shown by Bruno Fernandes to create Manchester United’s winner.

He said: “When you score the goal, probably be a bit more mature. We gave feedback inside the pitch that, of course, Man United is going to react, and try to come again.

“A moment for us to be a bit more mature, and to close a little bit more that space.

“We tried to win the ball again, we tried to press, and Bruno [Fernandes] made a big assist in that situation, and they scored.

“I really believe that we deserved much more from the game in terms of result, but football is like that.”

Villa lost to Brentford while City could only draw at Tottenham. United are chasing down the teams above us, and while there may be too much to do for a title challenge, it’s been done from this position before…
