Burnley have until 7pm tonight, not 11pm as has been the case in previous years, to complete their business.
Strangely, the Clarets are also in action tonight, taking on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light with the game kicking off at 8pm, an hour after the window shuts – adding an extra layer of complexity.
The 31-year-old, who arrived on loan from West Ham last week, is a direct replacement for injured skipper Josh Cullen, who is facing nine months on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

In terms of outgoings, further departures can’t be discounted either – and that’s despite six already leaving the club this month, four on loan (Oliver Sonne, Jaydon Banel, Luca Koleosho and Michael Obafemi) and two permanently (Hannes Delcroix and Manuel Benson).
The likes of Hjalmar Ekdal, Quilindschy Hartman, Mike Tresor and Ashley Barnes have all been the subject of speculation in recent days and weeks, but currently remain at Turf Moor.
The departure of Sonne to Sparta Prague last week has opened up a space in Burnley’s 25-man squad, with Ward-Prowse taking the spot of Cullen who will inevitably be un-registered.
