Man Utd star was'struggling'under Ruben Amorim, but he's become the MVP of Michael Carrick's revival - Opinion

Manchester United are the Premier League’s most in-form team right now, with several players setting the league alight for Michael Carrick.

Over the past few weeks, Manchester United haven’t only improved tactically, but Michael Carrick is getting the best from his players.

Carrick has re-established Kobbie Mainoo as a starter, which immediately improved the midfield set-up, allowing Bruno Fernandes to be his creative best as a number 10.

The biggest improvement has been the attacking quality that United’s forwards are showcasing, with Benjamin Sesko scoring against Fulham. But it is another star who has made himself absolutely undeniable.

Matheus Cunha has now become one of Manchester United’s main players

For Matheus Cunha, the past few weeks have really seen his career at Old Trafford begin.

The Brazilian had been decent all season without shining, but Ruben Amorim suggested he was struggling in November, but it is now the complete opposite.

Cunha was excellent against Fulham once again, making it three games in a row under Carrick that he has stepped up with game-changing moments.

After an assist against City, Cunha scored against Arsenal and did so again against Fulham with a brilliant strike. After the goal, Marco Silva praised Cunha’s finish, which shows how good it was.

He was on the bench for the first two games before starting this weekend due to Patrick Dorgu’s injury. However, the manner in which Cunha has played in the three games makes him undroppable.

Cunha has finally become the player United thought they were signing. And now he is a must-start for Carrick, being the most valuable part of the team right now.

This creates nice problems to have for United with multiple forwards all in form.

The biggest compliment for Cunha is that recently, he has had a Bruno Fernandes-esque air of inevitability about him; long may that continue.

Matheus Cunha praised for ‘devastating’ moment against Fulham

Cunha has been brilliant for United this season, regardless of what rival fans think, but finally, he is getting his flowers with six goals and two assists in the league this season.

Speaking during the game on Premier League productions, pundit and former Liverpool man Don Hutchinson hailed Cunha.

“My word that is a devastating finish, he has absolutely smacked that into the roof of the net. The goal has gone against the run of play early on in the second half.

“They win the ball back, he allows the ball to run across him, the weight of the pass is perfect from Casemiro. That is pure power.”

Cunha is beginning to be reliable, finding his shooting boots after being poor in front of goal earlier this season.

We imagine he finishes this season with at least 10 goals in the league, which is an excellent block to build on next season.
