Here are some of the deals that could happen on transfer deadline day at Celtic.
It’s the final day of the transfer window at Celtic and the club are set to be dashing about for last-minute deals.
Prior to February 2nd, striker Tomas Cvancara and right-back Julian Araujo have arrived on loan, but there is a feeling that far more is needed. That could leave boss Martin O’Neill adding more than a few to his ranks in last gasp trolley dash but exits could be abound too.
Nottingham Forest are just one of the suitors said to be on the case of one of their current assets, but what else could happen in and out of Parkhead come the close of play? Here are some of the deals that may happen.

Junior Adamu
Austrian national team striker has been at Bundesliga side Freiburg since 2023 after form at Red Bull Salzburg but has seven goals for his current side over 67 games. He’d add more depth at centre forward and a deal is said to be close. Sky Germany claim: “Total verbal agreement between Celtic and Junior Adamu. Advanced negotiations are ongoing with SC Freiburg. The 24 y/o versatile striker is already on his way to the medical. Final details are being sorted. Other clubs are trying to hijack the deal - if no hijack happens, the move to Celtic FC will go through.”
Arne Engels
Belgian midfielder has had his critics but is still attracting interest this January window. RB Leipzig were initially mentioned but now there’s claims of Nottingham Forest interest swirling. Scotland is often seen as a pathway to England for players and if Forest formalise their interest, it’d be interesting to see what stance Celtic take.
Fares Ghedjemis
The Frosinone winger was directly addressed as an option last week by O’Neill but a big fee looks to be a stumbling block. Not dead in the water but a deal that looked to be accelerating now faces a final day surge to get done. Sky’s Anthony Joseph stated: “Talks between Celtic and Frosinone for winger Fares Ghedjemis have stalled today (Sunday). The clubs have been unable to come to an agreement on the structure of a £6.5m deal, so far.”
Stephen Welsh
Defender was recalled from a loan at Motherwell when arguably in the form of his career, and has played just over an hour in the Scottish Cup against Auchinleck Talbot since. Motherwell on loan are his only option and Celtic have a decision to make over their own cover at the back or sending Welsh back to Fir Park where his value for a summer sale would likely grow. Fir Park boss Jesn Berthel Askou said last month: “We hoped that would have been resolved earlier. And obviously, we need to do our work in the background so we don't end up with nothing there. There's a situation where we lost a very good centre-back and what's going to happen is uncertain.”
Joel Mvuka
Ouest France suggest the Ligue 1 club are set to let the forward-thinking player go to Celtic. Has experience at clubs like Bodo Glimt and Young Boys, contracted to Lorient since 2023. Predominantly plays off the right but Celtic do have Yang coming into form.
