'There is a possibility...' - Journalist says Man Utd working on potential deadline day signing

Manchester United could welcome a surprise signing on transfer deadline day, journalist Chris Winterburn has suggested.

The Old Trafford side have yet to register any major transfer business this month, but could reportedly explore a late loan move for a new full-back.

While the names of any potential targets remain unclear, United remain unlikely to conduct any major deals unless a viable opportunity presents itself.

The Red Devils have enjoyed a positive start to life under interim head coach Michael Carrick, winning all three of their Premier League games, including a 3-2 victory over Fulham on Sunday.

According to Winterburn, while there is a possibility a full-back could be brought in on loan, United are expected to be quiet on transfer deadline day.

United splashed out over £200m on new signings last summer, welcoming Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens.

Outgoings also remain highly unlikely ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, despite the likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte being recently linked with moves away from Old Trafford.

Zirkzee was left out of Carrick’s squad for his first two games, but returned on Sunday as he was named among the substitutes for the 3-2 win over Fulham.

The Dutchman was the subject of interest from Serie A duo Roma and Juventus earlier in the window, but United never opened the door to any potential move.
