Jamie Carragher has changed his stance on Casemiro after the Manchester United midfielder’s excellent display against Fulham on Sunday.
Casemiro opened the scoring with a superb header in the 19th minute.
The Brazilian then turned provider as he slipped the ball through the defence for Matheus Cunha to fire a second.
Fulham looked to have rescued a point after late strikes from Raul Jimenez and Kevin. But Benjamin Sesko produced a stunning finish to wrap up a 3-2 victory for United.
Casemiro was badly struggling for form back in 2024, and that had prompted Carragher saying he should leave football.
However, the former Liverpool star has been forced to perform a U-turn on his previous comments, as he admitted Casemiro is now a ‘completely different player’.
“It is now fair to say the football has not left him,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“Considering what he’s producing this season in the Premier League, and not just Fulham at home, you think what he did last week against Arsenal away and Manchester City at home.
“He looks like a different player physically as well.”
Casemiro has started all three games under interim boss Michael Carrick.
He impressed with his performances in wins over Manchester City and Arsenal, but his best display came against Fulham on Sunday.

Besides the two direct goal contributions, the Brazil international made three clearances and three recoveries.
He won 100 per cent of his aerial duels and was dribbled past just once during his 75 minutes on the pitch.
Casemiro has confirmed he will be leaving United at the end of this season.
