But he said it would have been a borderline call against James Tarkowski and added: “I’m not too mad about it.”
The Albion goalkeeper got down to block a drive from Jake O’Brien in the final seconds of the 1-1 draw.
The ball had come past Tarkowski, who was clearly in an offside position.
As the ball came back off Verbruggen, Beto struck to secure his side a point.
Video assistant Neil Davies studied the incident while Tarkowski said he retreated, closed his eyes and hoped for the best.
Verbruggen said: “Tarkowski ducked out of the way.

“Obviously, we've seen plenty of scenes in the league where that gets given offside but, in my opinion, the referee can give it or he can not give it. To be honest, I'm not too mad about that.”
Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler had been keen not to blame the loss of two points on referee Chris Kavanagh and his team.
Verbruggen said: “The referee gives what the referee gives and it's up to the team to perform by itself.
“No, we should never put a result, good or bad, on a referee.
“We should look at ourselves. What we can do better, what we have to do better, and the lessons we can learn.
“And that's no different today. So I don't really want to speak about the ref. I just want to speak about the team.”
