The Clarets make the trip to the Stadium of Light tonight for an 8pm kick-off, trying to become the first team to beat the Black Cats on home turf this season.

In seasons gone by, the January transfer window wouldn’t close until 11pm, but that’s been brought forward this season to 7pm.

That means Burnley’s business will be done an hour before they get underway on Wearside.

But if deals are ongoing prior to kick-off, that might take some of Scott Parker’s focus away from the Monday night encounter.

But the Clarets boss insists that won’t be the case, claiming he’ll be “out of reach”, with those above him taking care of any remaining transfer business.

"It's a bit strange really,” he said.

"You wouldn't have thought there would be a game on a Monday night when the window shuts, I think at 7pm.

“But, yes, hopefully, if things are in play, they're probably going to be landing a little bit before that, so we'll be in communication.

"Obviously, on Monday, I'll practically be focused on the game so I'll be out of reach. But we'd like to think that if there was anything, that we'd have it in place, or certainly have an idea of where we're going by then.”
