After Arsenal defeated South American champions Corinthians on Sunday, player of the match and Gunners captain Kim Little held a short press conference. The first two questions are from Arseblog News.
On playing in an intense, topsy turvy game…
It was a very eventful game, it seemed like there was a lot going on in the game. It seemed like more than one match, but I think in saying that credit to the team for being resilient, coming back after conceding really late on and putting in a really strong performance in the extra time to win the match.
On another trophy ticked off in her career and how to place it emotionally…
It’s quite a unique experience even after Wednesday to play in a new competition for FIFA, which there hasn’t been a club competition which is quite different and especially in this season. We had a really good week of preparation to prepare for teams we’ve never played before, which was great to do as as players. We always went to challenge ourselves and to do that so that was definitely a challenge both you know the teams we played and especially from Corinthians tonight. And our game of Wednesday was challenging in different ways. We prepared really well for both the games and I think ultimately today was a final and you could see that in how the game was played. It is just another special moment for this great club who have a great legacy and are trail blazers in the women’s game and so for us to have won this won this first Champions Cup it’s really special and also incredible to be here at our stadium in North London with a lot of our fans, which I think just adds to the moment. It’s a bit of a different feeling again. I have not really thought about it too much yet, it’s a different feeling, but it’s another trophy and as players, and as a club, that’s what we want to do.
On lifting the trophy with Leah Williamson…
(That will) always (happen).
On focus turning to Manchester City next weekend…
We will celebrate this one. I think that’s always important for me when you’re achieving things and you have a lot of things to play for. So we will we will do that together in a considered way and then most of the focus will change pretty immediately onto our next league game next weekend.
