Fabrizio Romano: Deal now off for Everton target despite deadline day agreement as club…

Everton are up against the clock if they are going to secure any late signings before the 7pm deadline.

It has been a frustrating winter window for Everton fans, with no signings made and less than 12 hours to go now.

David Moyes admitted Everton may not sign any players in the window despite there being money to spend.

Injuries have depleted the squad on Merseyside over recent months, which has left the club with little other choice but to act.

If you could sign one player, who would it be Everton fans? 🤩

There has, however, been little urgency from the Toffees as the window has quickly passed them by.

Everton are closing in on signing Tyrique George from Chelsea, but there is now one player who definitely will not be signing for them today.

Everton will no longer be able to sign Ricardo Pepi

It has been suggested that Everton were keen to sign Ricardo Pepi from PSV Eindhoven this month.

According to Fabrizio Romano, on deadline day morning, the Dutch outfit have now informed suitors that Pepi will not be leaving.

Fulham had an agreement in place for Pepi, but PSV are now worried they will not be able to sign a replacement in the coming hours.

For now, the deal to see Pepi make the move to the Premier League has been called off.

Everton News understands that Everton have been keen to sign another striker, but the hunt is now expected to span into the summer window.

This development may even give Moyes another opportunity to make a move for Pepi when the time is right later in the year.

Everton set for Thierno Barry and Beto partnership

Amid the desire to sign another striker, Everton have rejected interest in Beto over the course of the last month.

The 28-year-old turned out to be the hero at the weekend following his late goal to secure a point against Brighton & Hove Albion.

With no replacements coming through the doors on deadline day, Everton simply cannot go into the final months of the season with just one senior striker.

Youngster Braiden Graham continues to impress in the Everton academy, but he is unlikely to get a run out under Moyes just yet.
