Nottingham Forest’ ‘important’ offer for deadline day signing – Another deal collapses

Nottingham Forest have looked at the Italian market to strengthen their squad, late in the winter market.

The Reds already completed the signing of Lorenzo Lucca on loan from Napoli in January. Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi and Fiorentina’s Robin Gosens are also on their list.

Two days ago, we covered claims from Italy that Nottingham Forest CEO Lina Souloukou worked to reach an agreement with Inter to sign Frattesi. The player was also presented as being keen on moving to the City Ground in this window.

On Sunday, Gianluca Di Marzio reported Frattesi can only leave the San Siro if Inter sign Liverpool’s Curtis Jones on loan. The latter is still at Anfield, while the 26-year-old Italy international will continue with the Nerazzurri.

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta told Sky Italia that Frattesi won’t leave and FcInterNews have relayed his comments. He started in his side’s 2-0 win over Cremonese on Sunday. Sky asked Marotta whether it’s a sign the player will stay at the San Siro.

Responding to that, he said: “Yes, of course… We never want to hold back anyone who wants to leave. He’s never expressed this sentiment, which clearly means he’s happy with us. He’s proud of wanting more space, like everyone else, but he’ll have a chance to showcase his abilities, which are positive, during the season.”

That rules out a move to Nottingham Forest. Frattesi isn’t the only player Sean Dyche’s side will miss out on. The latest claims from Italy cover the Premier League side’s interest in Fiorentina’s Robin Gosens.

Nottingham Forest important offer

TuttoMercatoWeb report Dyche’s side have made an ‘important’ offer to both him and the Serie A side. This includes a contract until 2029 for the 31-year-old left-back.

According to them, La Viola are open to letting him leave on deadline day. The move can go through if the German player were to push for an exit.

That won’t happen. Di Marzio states Gosens rejects Nottingham Forest’s offer as he wants to stay at Fiorentina.

Viola News back it up and adds Nottingham Forest’s ‘negotiations fall apart’ in ‘just a few hours’.

The outlet explains Gosens and Fiorentina have turned down the English club’s proposal. The offer was to sign him on loan with an option to buy. Fiorentina would have considered if a purchase obligation was included instead of an option.
