Sunderland now eyeing shock move to sign "spectacular" Real Madrid wonderkid - report

Sunderland have now reportedly set their sights on signing a Real Madrid wonderkid in a shock move.

Sunderland set to keep hold of Geertruida

It's been a frantic week for the Black Cats as they prepare to play host to Burnley on Monday night. After securing the arrival of goalkeeper Melker Ellborg and opening the door for Anthony Patterson to join Millwall on loan until the end of the season, it looked as though there could be more business on the way.

Reports claimed that Liverpool were looking to sign Lutsharel Geertruida from RB Leipzig, which would have seen the versatile defender end his loan spell in Wearside. Things have since failed to progress from all sides, however, and the Black Cats now look destined to keep hold of their man.

It follows the good news of Ellborg's earlier arrival, with the shot-stopper set to provide backup for Robin Roefs whilst Patterson heads out on loan.

After putting pen to paper, the new signing told the club website: "It feels amazing to have signed for this Club. The past few days have been enjoyable, from learning about the interest, getting to know the Club and the people, and finalising the move.

"The Club has had an excellent season so far, and I’m incredibly happy to be part of this journey. I’m aware of Sunderland’s history, and it means a lot to be part of something with such a rich tradition.

Regis Le Bris could pick up Sunderland's next Enzo Le Fee by securing a late deal for this sensational midfielder.

"I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone at the Stadium of Light on Monday and hopefully playing in front of the fans soon."

Now, all focus is likely to turn towards the summer, when Sunderland could land one of the most unexpected deals of the year.

Sunderland eyeing shock Endrick move

According to reports in Spain, Sunderland are now eyeing a move to sign Endrick this summer. The Real Madrid star has thrived on loan at Lyon this month, scoring a hat-trick against FC Metz last week, and could now be on his way to the Premier League in the shock fashion.

If there were any doubts about the Brazilian's quality, then they have been put to bed at Lyon. So much so that it reamains to be seen whether Real Madrid would even sanction the sale of their wonderkid, who barely got a look in under Xabi Alonso.

Despite his struggles under Alonso, Endrick earned impressive praise from former manager Carlo Ancelotti, who told reporters last year: "He is spectacular. He has these amazing characteristics he has shown whenever he has a chance. His accuracy is off the charts, he's quick and he still has a lot to improve with the ball.

"But, wow, his dribbling, his runs... the shot he has... he could even score a second goal easily with that great strike off the post... He is just spectacular. Very young, but a very fast learner."
