Matheus Cunha continued his hot streak by scoring for Manchester United against Fulham but Michael Carrick believes that is just a snippet of what fans can expect from the Brazilian.
By scoring in Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Fulham on Sunday afternoon, Matheus Cunha now has six goals in the Premier League this season.
Three of those goals have come in his last five matches, including in consecutive weeks against Arsenal and Fulham.

Even Marco Silva was impressed by Cunha’s goal at Old Trafford. United’s No.10 latched onto Casemiro’s no-look pass and rifled a shot into the roof of the net.

Michael Carrick expects more from Matheus Cunha at Man United
Ever since he signed for £62.5m in the summer, Cunha has attracted Eric Cantona comparisons due to his charisma and flair.
That is a huge comparison to try and live up to, but Michael Carrick is clearly confident that Cunha has an extremely bright future ahead of him at Old Trafford.
Speaking about Cunha after the win over Fulham, Carrick said: “He’s got so much ability. I still think there is loads more to come from Matheus, in a really positive way.

“He’s had big moments coming on, creating a goal [against City], scoring last week [at Arsenal] and scoring this week.
“It’s a big stepping stone for Matheus. Hopefully, there’s more to come. I am sure there is.”
Matheus Cunha is finding form at Man United
Compared to fellow summer arrival Bryan Mbeumo, Cunha had a slightly slower start to life at Old Trafford when it came to goal contributions.
In his first 11 Premier League matches, Cunha only scored once. But since recovering from his injury setback in November, the Brazilian is finally getting the goals and assists that his performances deserved.
Cunha now ranks second on United’s top scorers in 2025/26 with six, joint with match winner Benjamin Sesko.

While Patrick Dorgu’s injury is unfortunate for United, the only silver lining is that it provides a platform for Cunha to return to the starting XI and build a strong run of form.
With two goals and one assist in the three matches under Carrick so far, Cunha should head into next week’s game against Tottenham full of confidence.
