All the latest transfer deadline day news for Brighton and Hove Albion
Brajan Gruda has joined RB Leipzig on loan until the end of the season.
The German playmaker will return to the Bundesliga.
Fabian Hurzeler said, “Brajan wants regular football, and we are not able to guarantee him that in the second half of the season, so this loan represents a good move for all parties.
“This move gives him that opportunity, a chance to continue his development and we wish him well for the remainder of the season.”
Brajan joined Albion in summer 2024 for around £25m from FSV Mainz, after a breakthrough season in the Bundesliga.
He’s made 45 appearances, scoring four goals and contributing eight assists for Albion in all competitions.
Sussex World verdict
This deal makes sense as Gruda has struggled to settle at Brighton and make a regular impact on the first team. Perhaps a return to Germany at this stage is just what he needs but there must be a huge frustration at the Brighton that they have not been able to get the best from him.
He looks such a talent but just cannot deliver it on a regular basis in the Premier League. There’s no suggestion of a an option to buy at this stage but one to keep an eye on. It makes the Matt O’Riley situation more clear as well.
