It’s deadline day and it appears increasingly unlikely that there’ll be any incomings on Tyneside between now and 7pm.

One outgoing will see Jamaal Lascelles join Leicester City today, and we’ve now seen another Mag linked with a late exit in Sandro Tonali.

In a bold exclusive from [Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg](https://x.com/Plettigoal/status/2018248082706633126), he reports that Arsenal have come forward with a deadline day move for the Italian.

He claims that a deal is ‘very difficult’ at this stage of the window, stating that Newcastle have rejected the North London side’s initial approach, with the Gunners looking to sign another midfielder after an injury to ex-Mag Mikel Merino.

Noises on Tyneside also indicate that Tonal will be going nowhere, with two North East reporters moving quickly to rubbish the story.

Lee Ryder claims that Newcastle have ‘instantly dismissed’ the report, insisting no approach has been made, while Luke Edwards reveals that Toon officials have called the story ‘stupid’ and ‘complete rubbish.’

So, only time will tell if Arsenal are keen, but it sounds like an absolute non-starter today and rightly so!
