Loan watch: Vieira and Gale among the goals

Fabio Vieira scored the opening goal from the penalty spot in Hamburg’s 2-2 draw at home to Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Former Premier League forwards Harry Kane and Luis Diaz scored either side of half-time to put the away side in front, but Luka Vuskovic equalised in the 53rd minute to share the spoils against the league leaders.

Hamburg are 13th in the Bundesliga, five points clear of the relegation zone and with a game in hand on most teams.

Elsewhere in the division, Karl Hein was on the bench for Werder Bremen’s 2-0 loss at home to Hoffenheim and 1-1 draw at home to Borussia Monchengladbach last week.

In the UEFA Europa League, Jakub Kiwior played 90 minutes of Porto’s 3-1 win at home to Rangers on Thursday. That win saw Porto finish eighth in the league phase to progress to the quarter-finals.

Ethan Nwaneri played 67 minutes of Marseille’s 2-2 draw away to Paris FC, which the former surrendered a two-goal lead in to remain third in Ligue 1, seven points shy of Lens and nine behind PSG.

Down in League Two, young Gunner Ismeal Kabia came on in the 73rd minute of Shrewsbury Town’s 1-0 defeat away to Cambridge United on Tuesday. He then came on in the 76th minute of Saturday’s 0-0 draw at home to Barnet. Shrewsbury are now 22nd in the fourth tier, three points above the relegation zone.

It was a weekend to remember in women’s football for Jessie Gale at Bristol City, as she was on the scoresheet twice in Saturday’s 3-0 win at home to Sunderland, the Robins remaining second in WSL 2. The first goal came in the first minute with a header past the goalkeeper at the near post, while the second came at the end of a brilliant run forward.

Speaking to the club’s media team after the game, Jessie said: “I am buzzing. I have been practicing those finishes all week and it felt like all the hard work paid off.”

Up in the Barclays Women’s Super League, Rosa Kafaji was in action for Brighton & Hove Albion, playing 71 minutes of Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at home to London City Lionesses, a game that was decided by former Gunner Freya Godfrey. That result saw London City climb to sixth and Brighton drop to seventh in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Jenna Nighswonger came on in the 75th minute of Aston Villa’s 2-1 defeat away to Everton, who Laila Harbert was an unused substitute for. Villa are now eighth in the WSL but remain five points clear of Everton.

Vivenne Lia was an unused substitute for Nottingham Forest's 5-1 loss at Birmingham City in WSL 2.

A few of our loanees weren’t included in matchday squads lat week, namely Reiss Nelson at Fulham, Louie Copley at Crawley Town, Will Sweet at Dagenham & Redbridge (whose game was postponed), Lucas Martin Nygaard at Brabrand (who didn’t have a game) and Madison Earl at Ipswich Town Women.
