Crystal Palace are set for a busy transfer deadline day, with deals for Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jorgen Strand Larsen set to dominate the headlines going into the final few hours of the window.
However, a move for Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez could also spring up for the FA Cup holders, with the Eagles submitting an 'enquiry' for his services.
Palace lost their star centre-back and captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City earlier this window, a move that did not go down well with manager Oliver Glasner, who admitted he will be leaving the club at the end of the season. However, it appears steps are being taken to replace the England star.
Report: Palace 'Enquire' Over Move for Joel Ordonez
Joel Ordonez
Palace are in need of a centre-back, and they have been on a rotten spell of form in the Premier League - meaning any addition would be much-needed to avoid a shock relegation to the Championship.
And that has seen Sky Sports reporter James Savundra state that Palace are in the market to land Ordonez - and although a deal is unlikely to happen on deadline day, you can never say never.
Savundra said: “A new name I’ve heard in the last hour or so, Joel Ordonez of Club Brugge. He’s a player that Crystal Palace enquired about last week.
"They were put off by the asking price of the Belgian club. It’s unlikely to be done today, unless there’s some room for negotiation and Club Brugge are willing to come down on their valuation of the Ecuador international centre-back.”
Ordonez, 21, was linked with a move to Liverpool over the summer window for £35million, though the Reds are signing Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes instead.
If that's the calibre of player that is willing to move to Selhurst Park despite their poor form, Palace must do everything they can to get the deal over the line.
