Crystal Palace have agreed to offload a player who has been linked with Celtic of late.

Crystal Palace are expecting to have a busier transfer deadline day than most as they look to come out of the window looking to avoid becoming too much weaker than they began it. The Eagles lost club captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City, and that deal alone will have them struggling to look as strong, while they could also lose star striker Jean-Phlippe Mateta before the day is done.

Palace are hoping to replace Mateta with Jorgen Strand Larsen, who is expected to join from Wolves on a more than £40million deal.

But they may not be the only deals Palace strike on deadline day, and the first of any additional deals is likely to include Jesarun Rak-Sakyi’s move to Stoke City on a loan deal. The winger was being linked with a move to Celtic and Swansea City, but Sky Sports say he is now headed to Stoke on a loan deal without any obligation or option to buy.

Stoke are currently 12th but in with a chance of reaching the playoffs this season. Rak-Sakyi has only ever made eight league appearances for Palace, but he has played regularly on loan spells with Charlton Athletic, Sheffield United and most recently Çaykur Rizespor in the first half of this season. The former England under-21s international returned in January and now looks set for another Championship spell.

Palace could look to sign defender

With Guehi having left, Sky Sports say Palace are open to signing a new centre-back on deadline day should the right opportunity come up. Though, they face a race against time to find and sign a centre-back before the 7pm deadline.

Club Brugge star Joel Ordonez has been linked, but links have faded, while Chadi Riad’s return has reduced the need for a new defender somewhat. Palace tried to sign Igor Julio from Brighton on loan on deadline day of the summer window, and interestingly, the defender will be available again today after seeing his loan deal with West Ham cut short having barely been used. That could be one to keep an eye on.
