'I bring you breaking news...' - Sky Sports say West Ham just scheduled a medical for deadline…

West Ham United have scheduled a medical for Chelsea star Axel Disasi this morning ahead of a deadline day deal, according to Sky Sports News.

The Hammers have been active in the transfer market this winter, bringing in Pablo and Taty Castellanos to strengthen their attack, while playmaker Lucas Paqueta has returned to Brazil with Flamengo after putting in a transfer request.

But Nuno Espirito Santo is desperate to make more signings before the 7pm deadline on Monday night as the team continue to battle against relegation, and a new central defender has been identified as a priority, with a deal now agreed.

Disasi, who has been described as a 'monster', was a £38m signing for Chelsea but has found himself exiled from the first-team squad over the last 12 months.

The France international spent the second half of last season at Aston Villa, and hasn't featured for the Blues this season, despite being recently brought back into the first-team training fold by manager Liam Rosenior.

But West Ham have been pushing to secure a deal for the defender ahead of the deadline, and Sky Sports News reporter Chris Reidy revealed live on air on Monday morning that a medical has now been scheduled at the London Stadium.

"We brought you the news that Axel Disasi was expected to sign today from Chelsea. Now, I can bring you the breaking news that a medical has been scheduled this morning at West Ham, so it looks like that deal is getting closer and closer to being sorted."

The Hammers were also keen to bring in a goalkeeper, with talks ongoing for Tottenham star Antonin Kinsky, but it's now understood that the Czech Republic international won't be departing Spurs before the deadline.
