Fabrizio Romano drops major Fulham transfer update involving "impressive" 34-cap international

Fabrizio Romano has now taken to X to drop a major Fulham transfer update involving an "impressive" 34-cap international.

Cottagers given transfer update after Silva outburst

Marco Silva was left very frustrated by his side's late 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Benjamin Sesko's late winner coming after a free-kick was awarded for Jorge Cuenca's challenge on Matheus Cunha, despite VAR replays indicating he played the ball.

Silva said: "The story of the game started with a horrendous terrible decision from John Brooks with the penalty he gave.

"Horrendous decision from that moment, big, big mistake. It was the first time we saw all the Premier League fans and us coaches and players. We have to take all this frustration to win the next one."

Fulham manager Marco Silva reacts

The manager has every right to feel aggrieved, but there are still some positives to take from the game, as his side showed heart to fight back from 2-0 in the second half, with Raul Jimenez and Kevin getting on the scoresheet.

Jimenez has been in solid form as of late, scoring four goals in his last eight Premier League games, but the Cottagers have been keen to bring in a new striker, and PSV Eindhoven's Ricardo Pepi has been identified as a target.

However, Romano has now taken to X to reveal that a deal is currently off as things stand, with PSV unwilling to sanction a move, despite agreeing a transfer fee, as they are unable to bring in a replacement.

Missing out on "impressive" Pepi could be real blow for Fulham

Prior to being ruled out with injury, the 34-cap USA international had been enjoying an impressive campaign in the Eredivisie and Europe, receiving plaudits from scout Jacek Kulig last month.

The El Paso-born forward is averaging a goal every two games this season, finding the net 11 times in 22 matches, with three of those coming in the Champions League, which is a very encouraging sign.

As such, Pepi could've been a fantastic signing for Fulham, so it is very disappointing they are set to miss out on his signature, not least because Silva definitely needs to bring in a new striker, given that Jimenez is now 34, and the Mexican's contract is set to expire in the summer.
