Fabio Vieira and Hamburg made their mark against runaway leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday, as the Portuguese midfielder converted a penalty to open the scoring at a buoyant Volksparkstadion.
Depite Bayern turning the contest on its head to lead 2-1, the hosts pegged them back further with an equaliser to earn a share of the spoils. Fabio starred for 85 minutes, becoming an increasingly crucial player for Merlin Polzin’s side, now 13th in the table.
It’s still all smiles for Porto and Jakub Kiwior, with the defender helping his side to yet another Liga Portugal clean sheet against Gil Vicente last Monday, in a 3-0 win. The Dragoes then overcame Rangers 3-1 on Thursday night to seal a top-eight spot in the Europa League’s league phase, with Jakub playing both full matches. Next up is a trip to Casa Pia this Monday evening, as Porto continue their title bid; Jakub continues to have played every minute in all competitions in 2026 so far.
Ethan Nwaneri was ineligible for Marseille’s Champions League defeat by Club Brugge on Wednesday night following last weekend’s debut goal in France, but returned to the starting XI for Saturday’s Ligue 1 contest away at Paris FC. The teenager’s side were leading 2-0 when he was substituted after 67 minutes, but eventually had to settle for a 2-2 draw as the Parisians clawed back. Marseille sit third in Ligue 1, nine points away from top spot.
Reiss Nelson was not involved for Brentford in their vital 1-0 victory at Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday, a result which elevates the Bees to seventh, just four points adrift of the Champions League places. Karl Hein was an unused substitute for Werder Bremen in their 1-1 Bundesliga draw with Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, a result salvaged via Bremen’s 94th-minute equaliser.
