Nottingham Forest make decision on James McAtee

The attacking midfielder is going to be in the sights of a number of clubs from overseas, but Forest have battened down the hatches and won’t let him go.

Sky Sports News have claimed that it’s very unlikely that McAtee will be allowed to leave today on loan, with Forest wanting to keep him at the club.

It was claimed live on air that Marseille and Feyenoord have expressed an interest, with a number of Premier League clubs also expressing an interest in his services.

MORE FOREST STORIES

McAtee is behind Morgan Gibbs-White in the pecking order for the spot as the team’s number 10, but he did prove in midweek that he’s capable of playing on the flank too.

Forest wise to keep McAtee

The former Manchester City man hasn’t become a bad player overnight and he showcased against Ferencvaros that he’s capable if called upon.

McAtee might be disappointed that he’s not going to get the chance to head out and play some regular football, but at the same time, he will now hope to work hard and get more Forest chances.

With Douglas Luiz and Arnaud Kalimuendo leaving, Forest could do without losing another attacking player and keeping McAtee does make a lot of sense.

Given that he’s still a young player, McAtee was clearly signed with the future in mind a little bit and hopefully, there will be more positive moments for him in the future.
